Caring for the Caregivers: Because Hunger Shouldn't Be a Side Effect of Illness

When a family member falls critically ill, the entire family fights the battle. In the corridors of government hospitals, hundreds of “bystanders”—relatives caring for patients—often neglect their own well-being. Facing immense financial pressure to pay for medicines and procedures, many caregivers skip meals to save money.

Vanchi Poor Fund recognizes this silent struggle. We believe that no one should have to choose between buying medicine for a loved one and feeding themselves. Our hospital feeding initiative ensures that in-patients and their caregivers receive nutritious food, giving them the strength to keep fighting.

Ensuring medical treatment isn't burdened by hunger.

At various hospitals across Thiruvananthapuram, Vanchi Poor Fund operates a free meal distribution network. We provide wholesome, freshly cooked food to patients and their bystanders, ensuring that financial strain doesn’t lead to starvation during vulnerable moments. By taking care of their basic nutritional needs, we allow families to focus entirely on the recovery of their loved ones.
